Hi Scott,
Actually in the last part where I moved the X axis as well as 4th axis I was using a 4 chanel "pendent" USB controller with a spring loaded rotary knob. The beeps are created when I select an axis on the pendent using push buttons. Rotating the knob seems to make a series of speed steps in the speed. Yes, it is changing the pulse rate. The pendent is usually used for very small and precise axis moves when zeroing the start point on a new project. It is much easier and more precise than tapping the keyboard.

I like the way the motor "sings" the harmonic series during the [a|de]cceleration. You must be using integer multiples of something (pulse rate?). It sounds like 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1.

Yeah Shel, It was looking very cluttered so I did do some Spring cleaning after cutting your 5K stamp... The temperature was perfect to be in the shop all weekend.

Yes Andy, That was my original thought. I was going to leave the original structure well enough alone. In fact it is still there so old links will work. The old site was built using frames (high tech back then) but links to articles lost the overall structure of the web site. I never liked that. Updates will be MUCH easier and the site will all look like one. It actually hasn't changed "look" all that much.

It can be difficult to justify the investment in a project like this because at the end of the day the users are still just reading the same articles they were before. The main site looks good and it's easy to get to the various projects and articles. Hopefully your new platform will make for easy updates in future

Hello Andy,

Yep any move is a big undertaking. There may be some export/import tool in WordPress that may help a blog to blog change. Good luck. :)

Took a quick look at your blog and it presently looks very clean. Sure would like to have a shed like yours.

It would be nice if I could auto transfer my old HTML into my new format. I did some of that manually when I built the "The Hobbyist Work Shop" in Joomla. I moved the "Wood" tab off the THMS "Machine Shop" site to create the new THWS "Work Shop" website. I left the old files in place in THMS directory structure and just removed the menu tab. That was in case there were links to the older directory in the THMS site, they wouldn't get broken. So much to think about... :)
